From now on, because of the great amount of SPAM that has been created on this forum, all NEW members will be validated before they are registered as Users. So after you sign up, you will have to verify your e-mail address and we will have to approve you. No thanks to the hundreds of SPAM robots that prowl our forums.

Thanks Willy. It has been pretty heavy lately, maybe it will slow down after Xmas. There are some sick people out there, and some just greedy or inconsiderate. We don't need them cluttering things up here.

The new registration system has made a big difference. A few still get through, but I am quickly learning to tell the difference by looking at netnames and email addresses. For those who are legitimate and don't get by the screening system, please contact me through the forum - "Contact Us" on the tool bar at the bottom of the page - I/we will get it straightened out. I try to give the benefit of the doubt when I can. It helps a lot if your net name is a pronouncable actual name, shooting related word, or intelligible phrase. Attempts like "rghmflp6969" or "nakedbimbos4U" are unlikely to get past me.

Update.
The average weekday sees up to twenty or so trying to join us and fifty or more on a busy weekend day. Sadly, less than 5% are legitimate. Most of them are spambots with .ru and .pl origins, with the remainder .coms with obvious business edresses that have nothing to do with firearms or shooting like BuyCialisOnlineNow or an unpronounceable string of letters and numbers. It's the spammers that use actual names, especially womens names, that are now getting past me because I like to give the benefit of the doubt. I would rather accept someone and then ban them with their first spamming than automatically refuse a legitimate appearing applicant and alienate a new friend.

Again, if you are a shooter who wants to join, please choose a netname that is readable and you're halfway there. Shooting/hunting related terms and phrases work great and make it easier, but unrelated phrases, as long as they are in English will also be readily accepted, like PatsCats or DragRacer. Names and especially nicknames like DeadEyeJoe or 870Bill work, too, especially if your contact email edress is at an non-shooting related business.

If you do get rejected and you're for real, please "Contact Us" and we'll get it taken care of ASAP. Thank you and good shooting.
